In the pictures that I obtained from Aunt Yvonne, there are two post cards with a picture of this statue on it:
There is an "X" next to the person on the lower right of the statue on the postcards and written on one of them are the words, "Grandfather Lejeune." A note below the postcard says, "Great Grandfather Lejeune (Grandmother Stegen's father). Near as I can tell, Aunt Yvonne wrote the notes because the only Lejeune woman along that line to become a Stegen would be Philomene. That puts grandpa mitchell and Aunt Yvonne's generation as grandkids. Philomene Stegen's father was supposedly Jean Joseph Lejeune. The statue in question is one done by Armand Cattier in honor of John Cockerill. Cockerill is the one on top of the statue.
So, how do we know the individual on the lower righthand section of the statue in the picture above is our ancestor?
Here is an up close shot of that person:
Also, why is he on a statue in honor of John Cockerill. If I knew french, I'm sure I'd get further, but a surface search in english produced this book. So far, this is the only connection between the two names that I've found.
Here is some info on the place associated with the Lejeune name:
Aunt Yvette, if you happen to read this, next time you talk to Aunt Yvonne, could you please ask her about this. If you would rather I can call her. Just send me her phone number in an e-mail.
Thanks, Joe

OK, this has nothing to do with anything on Joe's site, but every single one of my friends that is a mom has fallen in love with this site, and I know that lots of mitchell's like to do things online, so I thought I'd share.
